In a strategic move to fortify its presence in southern India, third-party logistics provider VRL Logistics has acquired a massive 27-acre transshipment hub in Bengaluru for a whopping β‚Ή229.30 crore. This acquisition, critical for the company’s operations in the region, marks a significant milestone in its infrastructure expansion strategy.

A Game-Changer for South India Logistics

VRL Logistics had leased the facility for the past decade but has now taken full ownership to secure its long-term operational needs. The β‚Ή229.30 crore deal, inclusive of stamp duty and registration, was partly financed by a loan of around β‚Ή185 crore.

“This hub is pivotal to our operations in south India. Owning it ensures continued availability, helping us optimize key logistics processes,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

Daily Operations: Handling Over 3,000 Tonnes of Cargo

The Bengaluru hub plays a critical role in VRL Logistics' daily activities, managing tasks such as aggregation of bookings, storage, destination sorting, and vehicle placement. On average, it handles 3,000 tonnes of cargo daily, underscoring its strategic importance.

Major Infrastructure Investments

Over the years, VRL Logistics has heavily invested in the hub, developing essential infrastructure including:

  • Fuelling stations
  • Weigh bridges
  • Solar power installations
  • Strengthened flooring

Spanning 27.30 acres with 5 lakh sqft of operational space, the hub is poised for further capacity expansion, ensuring it meets future demand.

Why This Acquisition Matters

This acquisition not only secures a critical asset but also underscores VRL Logistics’ commitment to long-term growth and dominance in the southern logistics market. With the hub fully under its control, the company is better positioned to deliver seamless, efficient logistics solutions while scaling its operations.
