Amazon India to Invest ₹2,800 Crore in Associate Welfare and Operations Expansiont

Amazon India has unveiled plans to invest more than ₹2,800 crore to bolster associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing while significantly expanding its operations footprint across the country. This fresh commitment forms part of the company's wider pledge to channel over $35 billion — approximately ₹2.9 lakh crore — into India by 2030, with key priorities spanning digitisation, export acceleration, and large-scale job creation. The latest investment builds directly on the ₹2,000 crore the company deployed in 2025, which facilitated the launch of new fulfilment centres, sortation centres, and last-mile delivery stations across India. This time, the funds will support further expansion of that infrastructure network while simultaneously scaling Amazon's quick commerce offering to reach a wider base of cities and consumers. Amazon India has made clear its intention to operate across a broad spectrum of delivery timelines — from deliveries measured in minutes to those taking a few days — by growing both its core logistics network and its quick commerce capabilities. Central to that effort is Amazon Now, the company's rapid delivery service, which has already been scaled to over 300 micro fulfilment centres spread across major Indian cities. Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations at Amazon India and Australia, underscored the human dimension of this investment. "Since launching Amazon.in in 2013, we have built one of India's safest, fastest, and most reliable operations networks, serving customers across every serviceable pin code in the country. Our people are at the core of this network, and we are dedicated to enhancing associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing. This year, we are investing over INR 2,800 crore (~USD 300 million) to further strengthen these efforts, while continuing to scale our operations network and advance the technology that enables faster, safer, and more reliable deliveries for customers. Our initiatives also align with national priorities such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, helping expand access to healthcare and financial inclusion for our associates." On the associate welfare front, Amazon has outlined a detailed roadmap of healthcare and financial support measures. Project Ashray, which provides dedicated rest facilities for delivery personnel, will be scaled up significantly.
