A new report by Tech.co has identified Texas as the U.S. state experiencing the highest freight demand in 2025, as the logistics industry continues to grapple with a nationwide truck driver shortage.
The findings, published in Tech.Co’s “Moving Goods With Fewer Hands” report offers a state-by-state breakdown of how freight demand is rising across the country and how businesses are struggling to keep up due to operational and labour constraints.
According to the report, 21% of respondents in Texas reported either significant or slight increases in freight demand over the past year, placing it at the top of the list. Texas was followed closely by California (20%), New York (16%), Florida (14%) and Georgia (13%).
Despite being home to the largest number of truck drivers in the country, approximately 172,000, Texas is not immune to the pressures facing the broader logistics sector. Nationwide, 63% of logistics businesses have reported an increase in freight demand, signalling a widespread shift.
