CCI Worldwide Logistics, the international freight forwarding arm of the CCI Group, has officially launched “Trans Africa,” a technology-driven logistics platform aimed at transforming cross-border freight movement across the African continent.

Backed by an investment of ₹106 crore, the initiative is projected to handle 5,000 TEUs annually via both air and sea routes. With an estimated 15% return on investment, the platform is designed to boost freight volumes and streamline trade by leveraging innovation, connectivity, and scalable logistics solutions.

The move comes at a time when intra-African trade remains low accounting for just 16% of the continent’s total exports, according to a UNCTAD report. However, with the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the region is poised for rapid growth, potentially expanding into a $3.4 trillion market. Maritime freight traffic alone is expected to more than double from 58 million tonnes to 132 million tonnes by 2030.

Despite the promise, challenges persist: cumbersome customs processes, fragmented infrastructure, high operational costs, and limited shipping visibility continue to obstruct efficient trade. AfCFTA has emphasized the need for digital solutions to unlock the continent’s trade potential, an area where CCI Worldwide’s “Trans Africa” aims to make a significant impact.
Focusing on high-demand commodities like pulses, auto spare parts, pharmaceuticals, and automobiles, the platform provides end-to-end logistics solutions, including door-to-door delivery across key regions in South, West, and East Africa. It integrates all stakeholders’ shippers, transporters, and customs agents into a single digital ecosystem, offering real-time shipment tracking, streamlined regulatory compliance, and operational transparency from port to final destination.

The launch phase of Trans Africa targets Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, and Egypt, with further expansion planned into Francophone West Africa, Central Africa, and landlocked countries such as Uganda and Zambia. This phased rollout aligns with CCI’s vision of building a digitally connected, resilient pan-African logistics network.
