Amid escalating US tariffs on Vietnamese exports, South Korean tech giant Samsung is reportedly exploring the possibility of relocating a portion of its smartphone and electronics manufacturing operations to India.

"Yes, talks have begun with Indian EMS (electronics manufacturing services) players, including their current partners," the source said, adding, "Not just Samsung several companies with manufacturing bases in Vietnam are now evaluating India as an alternative."

This development follows closely on the heels of reports that Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., is also in discussions with Indian manufacturers, Dixon Technologies and Foxconn to shift part of its global Pixel smartphone production from Vietnam to India.

The ongoing global trend to diversify supply chains away from China and now Vietnam is being accelerated by trade tensions and tariff uncertainties, with India emerging as a key contender in the electronics manufacturing landscape.
