Cannabis dispensaries in New York are facing a "supply crunch" as the state's fledgling legal marijuana industry navigates early challenges. A survey by the Cannabis Association of New York (CANY), involving hundreds of dispensary owners and cultivators, revealed that 78% of dispensary owners experienced limited product shipments from suppliers over the past three months. Additionally, 53% of cultivators reported being unable to meet order requests. This shortfall is attributed to changes in growing practices, with 26% of cultivators planting less in 2024 compared to the previous year, and 13% not planting at all. Despite these challenges, demand remains high.
