To bolster India-Bhutan relations, the Immigration Check Post (ICP) at Land Port Darranga, located in Assam’s Tamulpur district along the Indo-Bhutan border, will be officially inaugurated on Thursday. The inauguration ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM.

Situated just 700 meters from the Bhutanese border, the new ICP aims to enhance regional connectivity and promote economic growth between the two nations. The event will be attended by prominent dignitaries, including Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, and Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan.

Spanning 14.5 acres, the newly established ICP Darranga is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to streamline cross-border travel and facilitate trade. The strategic location of the port, supported by the improved connectivity provided by National Highway 27 and reinforced customs infrastructure in Bhutan, is expected to enhance operational efficiency.

The opening of ICP Darranga marks a key milestone in fostering regional cooperation and prosperity. With India's development initiatives and Bhutan’s growing industrial output, particularly from the Mottanga region, the ICP is expected to catalyze increased trade. The economic and cultural synergy between the two nations is further exemplified by the "Samjong" brand and the thriving markets in Samdrup-Jongkhar, Bhutan.

Beyond its role as a commercial hub, ICP Darranga will serve as an important immigration checkpoint, boosting local economies and strengthening international ties. This initiative is seen as a cornerstone for expanding transnational commerce and enhancing the flow of goods and people across the border.

The inauguration of the ICP symbolizes a new chapter in India-Bhutan relations, reflecting the spirit of mutual development and cooperation. The checkpoint is set to play a pivotal role in boosting economic growth, regional integration, and shared prosperity between the two nations.
