The Gujarat government has announced a State Integrated Logistics Master Plan (ILMP) along with City Logistics Plans (CLPs) for Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Junagadh. Unveiled at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conclave, the initiative outlines a logistics and infrastructure project pipeline valued at more than ₹1.80 lakh crore, with a development roadmap extending up to 2047.
The plan adopts a multimodal framework spanning road, rail, air and maritime transport to bring down logistics costs, enhance supply-chain efficiency and improve connectivity between ports and industrial corridors. At the city level, the CLPs focus on reducing congestion, strengthening last-mile connectivity and encouraging low-emission freight movement. Digital planning systems, logistics parks and multimodal hubs are central to the strategy aimed at attracting investments in manufacturing, MSMEs, exports and e-commerce.
Key Points
Context and Relevance
Gujarat already ranks among the leading states in terms of logistics performance, and the long-term ILMP further reinforces that position. For logistics service providers, infrastructure developers and investors, the plan signals a sustained pipeline of opportunities across transport infrastructure and urban freight projects. Alignment with PM Gati Shakti and national logistics reforms is expected to ensure smoother integration with central corridors and port modernisation programmes, amplifying gains for exporters and manufacturers.
The city-focused logistics plans also reflect a wider shift towards structured, technology-enabled and sustainable urban freight management. Their success will depend on timely execution, private-sector partnerships and seamless connectivity between ports, industrial clusters and multimodal hubs.
Why should I read this?
In simple terms, this matters for anyone involved in shipping, warehousing, construction or investment. Gujarat has placed a long-term bet on logistics through new hubs, improved port linkages and city-level freight reforms. This opens up opportunities in infrastructure development, land and warehousing, while enabling faster and more reliable supply chains for exporters over the next two decades.
Author’s take
A ₹1.80 lakh crore pipeline underlines the scale of Gujarat’s logistics ambition. For supply-chain stakeholders and investors, the plan offers visibility into future demand, with close attention needed on implementation timelines, public–private partnerships and priority corridors.
