Green Line Mobility Solutions Limited, a part of the Essar Group, has tied up with Flipkart to green the carbon footprint of its delivery operations. Greenline will replace conventional diesel-powered trucks with a fleet of LNG-powered trucks for goods mobility across key regional routes, as part of Flipkart's move towards sustainable initiatives.
In the first phase of this partnership, Greenline will deploy these 25 trucks. The LNG trucks will handle both business-to-business and business-to-consumer shipments, starting with routes within Western to Northern India and plans to expand to South India and other regions in the future.
The partnership of these two companies is an integral part of their sustainability goals. Presently, the company has added its LNG trucks to fortify Flipkart's ongoing projects, which involve electric vehicles (EVs) in operations. Recently, the company announced 10,000 EVs coming on board into the delivery network. Complimenting this paradigm of using LNG-powered and EV vehicles to further reduce carbon footprint, the move carries on making headways towards a sustainable future.
"As more people turn to the convenience of shopping from home, the partnership takes on even more importance in addressing this growing 'e-commerce' environmental challenge," Anand Mamani, CEO of Green Line Mobility Solutions, said.
Hemant Badri, SVP & Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re Commerce Business at Flipkart, noted the importance that using LNG-powered vehicles will have to enhance efficiencies across the supply chain while at the same time supporting the wider environmental goals of the country in doing so.
