Green Drive Mobility Builds a Scalable, All-Electric Logistics Platform with Eicher Pro X at the Core

Founded in 2020 with a clear sustainability-first vision, Green Drive Mobility has, within just five years, established one of India’s most diversified electric mobility platforms. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the company now operates in more than 10 cities, running a fully electric fleet that includes two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, cabs and buses, catering to a wide range of logistics and mobility needs.

Tracing the origins of the company, Mr. Hari Krishna, Founder & CEO, says the idea was built on a strong conviction that sustainability and business viability would eventually align. “Green Drive was started in 2020 with the goal of creating a carbon-free, sustainable mobility organisation. We began with Bengaluru as our headquarters and gradually expanded to other cities. Today, we operate in 10 cities and work with diverse clients across multiple segments,” he says.

From the beginning, Green Drive Mobility positioned itself as a full-stack EV platform rather than a niche fleet operator. “We are a full-stack EV company with a 100 percent electric fleet. Our operations span two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, cabs and buses. At present, our fleet strength exceeds 7,000 vehicles across categories,” Hari Krishna explains. In the four-wheeler segment alone, the company runs vehicles ranging from 800 kg to 2-tonne payloads, addressing the growing demands of urban logistics.

Diversified Customer Base

Unlike many EV fleet operators that rely heavily on e-commerce, Green Drive Mobility has deliberately built a diversified customer portfolio. According to Hari Krishna, this approach has been central to long-term stability. “We are not dependent on a single customer category. E-commerce is one part of logistics, but we also serve food companies, dairy, furniture, courier and industrial clients. Our focus has always been on covering all segments,” he notes.

This strategy has supported steady scaling while enabling partnerships with major enterprises such as IKEA, DHL, Zepto, Blinkit and Swiggy. It has also influenced Green Drive’s fleet strategy, encouraging the adoption of higher-capacity electric commercial vehicles suited for mid-mile and heavier last-mile operations.

Enter Eicher Pro X

As operations expanded, the need for dependable electric trucks in the 2–3.5T GVW segment became clear. “We were specifically looking for vehicles with payloads above 1.7 tonnes, since most of our earlier fleet was in the 1 to 1.5-tonne range,” Hari Krishna recalls. “Around the same time, Eicher and a few others entered this segment, but what differentiated Eicher for us was its strong service network, EV-ready workshops and a well-developed ecosystem.”

The decision to collaborate with Eicher was driven by both product capability and operational assurance, including factory-built container options offering the largest cargo space in the segment. “Eicher is a leader in the light and medium-duty truck space. In EVs, the main difference lies in the battery and motor, but service support becomes even more critical. Issues can arise in any product—the key is how quickly they are resolved,” he says.

This confidence led to the early induction of the Eicher Pro X, with Green Drive currently operating 30 Pro X vehicles across select routes. “That service confidence played a big role in our decision to go with Eicher,” Hari Krishna adds.

Battery choice, range confidence and dealer responsiveness

Battery capacity and range were crucial operational considerations. “The Pro X offers 32 kWh and 40 kWh battery options. We chose the higher capacity because we wanted longer running distances and better daily utilisation. For us, the 40 kWh battery made more sense for sustained operations,” Hari Krishna explains.

Dealer responsiveness has also been a key factor, especially when rapid deployment is required. “When a client places an order, speed becomes critical. There have been situations where we needed vehicles urgently and received deliveries within two to three days. That helped us onboard customers quickly and deploy without delays,” he notes.

This ability to match vehicle availability with customer timelines has strengthened Green Drive’s value proposition, supporting faster revenue generation and higher customer satisfaction.

Sustainability, ESG and the bigger picture

For Green Drive Mobility, electrification is closely tied to ESG commitments. Hari Krishna believes this will soon shape enterprise logistics decisions. “Most MNCs today are required to meet ESG targets, and regulations will only tighten. Carbon credit trading is also expected to begin in India, similar to Europe and the US,” he observes.

In this environment, EV fleet operators play a strategic role. “A strong EV ecosystem allows us to work closely with corporates and help them meet ESG objectives. Sustainability is no longer optional—it is becoming fundamental to business,” he says.

Operational realities and learning curves

Despite positive growth momentum, Hari Krishna is candid about operational challenges. “EVs are often seen as easy to operate, but service and maintenance remain critical. Even with fewer moving parts, regular maintenance and attention to detail are essential for long-term performance,” he explains.

Charging discipline is another key focus area. “In most cases, clients provide charging infrastructure at their facilities. We closely monitor charging behaviour—slow charging, fast charging and cell balancing. Proper and consistent charging significantly improves vehicle performance,” he adds.

Ambitious growth targets anchored by strong partnerships

Looking ahead, Green Drive Mobility has set ambitious expansion goals. “Our target this year was around 13,000 vehicles. We have already crossed 7,000 and expect to reach between 10,000 and 13,000 soon,” says Hari Krishna. By 2030, the company plans to operate nearly 25,000 EVs, including buses, with future expansion into intercity and heavier truck segments.

Eicher Pro X will remain central to this growth. “We plan to add more Pro X vehicles in the coming months,” he reveals. Initial deployments will focus on major logistics hubs such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune, followed by a phased rollout in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

Reflecting on the journey ahead, Hari Krishna highlights experience as a key strength. “As a five-year-old company, we have already dealt with vehicle-related challenges and learned how to manage them. Our next focus is on riders—supporting their careers and building a stable workforce. If we get that right, other challenges become manageable.”

For Green Drive Mobility, the partnership with Eicher goes beyond fleet expansion. It represents a step towards building a scalable, dependable and future-ready electric logistics ecosystem—one that balances commercial growth with India’s clean mobility transition.
