Greater Noida is poised to become a pillar of India's logistics infrastructure as the Uttar Pradesh government's plans for the establishment of a multi-modal logistics hub (MMLH) take shape. The project, which is situated in the Greater Noida neighbourhood of Dadri, is the result of a major INR 7,064 crore investment from the state government. It is an essential component of UP's financial plan to reach a $1 trillion economy. Being the largest logistics hub in the nation, the hub's core development will occupy 455 acres of the overall area, in excess of 800 acres.
The magnificent project aims to make Dadri a premier freight handling hub that can efficiently serve as a dry port to expedite the movement of raw materials and goods. Strategically located on the dedicated freight corridors to the east and west, it enjoys a central location that will strengthen its role as a hub for logistics services. This includes handling containers, warehousing, processing, cold storage, stuffing, de-stuffing, and value-added packing. A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority will oversee the development of the MMLH. This partnership incorporates cutting-edge logistical technologies and guarantees adherence to national requirements.
In order to ensure smooth rail connectivity and effective cargo management, the MMLH would provide essential services such as train platforms, customs clearing facilities, cargo segregation areas, truck parking zones, and large green spaces.
A thorough Master Detailed Project Report (DPR) for building the approach track and Rail Over Rail (ROR) bridge, which will run from New Dadri station to the MMLH boundary, has been prepared by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority. The DPR, which calls for building terminal stations and railway tracks inside the MMLH, has received approval from the DFCCIL. Project execution may now proceed quickly as the signalling procedures for the approach track and the tender papers for land acquisition have been completed.
Additionally, significant developments are being achieved in the creation of the trunk infrastructure essential for the hub's operation. This includes work on boundaries, roads, canals, bridges, utility relocation, and the provision of power and water supply.
In order to ensure a well-organized and effective building process, these developments are being implemented in multiple phases.
It is anticipated that the MMLH in Dadri will have a significant impact on India's logistics industry. Being the nation's largest logistics centre, it will be essential in reducing transit times and costs, improving the effectiveness of the supply chain, and raising the general competitiveness of Indian companies globally.
Furthermore, the initiative is in line with the government's objective of promoting economic growth and upgrading infrastructure. The Dadri MMLH will boost the state's economy and strengthen India's status as a global logistics hub by integrating advanced technologies and facilitating the seamless movement of goods.
