Manohar International Airport (MIA), maintained by GMR Goa International Airport Ltd. (GGIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd. (GIL), has received its first freighter. This event showcases the capabilities of the GMR Goa Air Cargo Logistics (GGACL) Terminal.

Chapman Freeborn Air Charters and BBN Airlines Turkey arranged for an A321 freighter to arrive at GOX airport on July 24, 2024, with 22 tons of goods aboard. This arrival signals the start of commercial freighter operations at GOX, with MDL/LDL for cargo offloading.

GGACL used GMR's modern cargo facilities to efficiently manage the offloading, storage, and clearing processes. This achievement establishes GOX as a top cargo hub in western India, setting a new standard for handling big and odd-sized cargo.

Since September 8, MIA has handled almost 5,000 metric tons of domestic and international cargo via airlines like Air India, Oman Air, Indigo, Akasa, Vistara, and SpiceJet. The integrated GMR Goa Air Cargo Logistic Terminal, which is now capable of handling 25,000 metric tons per year, has the potential to increase its capacity to 200,000 tons per year. This venture is projected to increase the region's economy and improve logistics linkages.
