Gateway Distriparks Limited has introduced a brand new service for container trains that directly links its five Inland Container Depots (ICDs) to Kandla Port. With this new route, the ICDs located in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, and Kashipur are now connected to India's western port, thereby boosting the logistics capabilities of Gateway.
Kandla, therefore, becomes the fourth port in the region that becomes accessible through Gateway Distriparks, by which Mundra, Pipavav, and Nhava Sheva operate these last three ports. Of the routes set for double stack container train operations, Viramgam, Garhi, and Faridabad are included for service, as well as Ludhiana and Kashipur being served by double stacking through the company's existing hubs.
Chairman and Managing Director Prem Kishan Dass Gupta stated that the expansion would require no extra capital expenditure and rake deployments because the existing fleet and hub-and-spoke operations would most effectively meet rising market demand.
Gateway Distriparks runs 10 container terminals all over India. It boasts a fleet of 34 trainsets and over 560 trailers for the end-to-end logistics solution, which includes warehousing, transportation, handling, and container service of the export-import sector.
