A massive theft of copper cables worth β‚Ή5.26 lakh was reported at a warehouse in the Waluj industrial area on Monday, with the two security guards on duty emerging as the main accused. The case has been registered against them at MIDC Waluj police station.

The TCI Freight warehouse employs as many as 10 to 12 laborers and four security guards. Warehouse supervisor Rakesh Verma informed the manager, Balveer Singh, around 11 am of the missing three bundles of copper cables. "After inspection, we confirmed they had indeed vanished," he added.

Balveer Singh has viewed the surveillance video. And at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, he says, it shows security guard Vikram Chavan interrupting the power supply. Because the cameras stopped rolling when the power was cut, they never catch the theft of three bundles of copper cables that vanished once the current was back. Singh believes the partner of his fellow guard Lav Ade would have been in league with the thug. The case has been lodged in the police station after both the guards have filed complaints against each other.
