The Chhattisgarh Cabinet has approved the State Logistics Policy-2025, a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the state into a major logistics and export hub. Aligned with India’s National Logistics Policy, the new framework focuses on reducing logistics costs, boosting industrial competitiveness, and enhancing export capacity, said Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao.
Thanks to its central location, Chhattisgarh holds a geographical edge for interstate and international trade. The policy seeks to capitalize on this by developing dry ports and inland container depots to improve market access for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local producers.
Key initiatives include investment in multimodal transport networks, modern warehousing, and digital logistics systems to streamline supply chains and reduce delivery times. The policy offers incentives and land support to attract national and global logistics companies, including e-commerce players.
It also emphasizes building a strong storage and distribution network to support traders, industries, and especially farmers. Forest-rich areas like Bastar and Surguja are expected to benefit through the promotion of exports such as medicinal plants, tribal handicrafts, and non-timber forest produce.
Job creation is a major goal, with the state expecting thousands of new opportunities in logistics, transport, IT services, and packaging. The policy also promotes green logistics through eco-friendly transport and digital tracking systems to reduce environmental impact.
