Australia’s Largest Iron Ore Port Cleared as Cyclone Approaches

The Pilbara Ports Authority has begun clearing all vessels from the Port of Hedland as Tropical Low 18U advances towards Western Australia. According to Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology, the system is expected to move south or southwest before shifting southeast by Thursday or Friday.

All anchorages are set to be cleared by the evening of February 12. In December 2024, the port handled 48.3 million tonnes of cargo, including 47.6 million tonnes of iron ore exports.
