According to state news agency Xinhua, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company will boost its investment in China during a meeting with Chinese officials in Beijing. This marks Cook's second visit to the world's largest smartphone market this year, where Apple has been losing market share to local competitors in recent quarters.
At a meeting with Minister for Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong, Cook expressed Apple's commitment to enhancing supply chain development in China. He stated, "Apple is eager to seize the opportunities arising from China's opening up and will continue to increase its investment in the country, contributing to the high-quality development of industrial and supply chains."
The discussions covered various topics, including Apple's growth in China, online data security management, and cloud services. Minister Jin expressed hope that Apple would deepen its engagement in China, invest in innovation, collaborate with local companies, and share in the benefits of China's development. Apple did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
