EasyPost has announced the addition of Amazon Shipping as a delivery option for its users, allowing Amazon sellers to access competitive shipping rates. While only Amazon sellers can utilize Amazon Shipping rates, they can also ship orders placed outside of the Amazon marketplace, according to Lori Boyer, senior marketing communications manager at EasyPost.
Since its relaunch in 2023, Amazon Shipping has expanded its partnerships with third-party platforms, making it easier for brands to use the service alongside their existing tools. In addition to EasyPost, Amazon Shipping integrates with ShipStation, Veeqo, Sellercloud, Descartes ShipRush, and more.
With Amazon's extensive fulfillment network and transportation infrastructure, Amazon Shipping aims to compete with leading carriers like FedEx and UPS. The service promises delivery within two to five days, including weekends, and offers free pickups seven days a week in 15 major U.S. cities.
However, Amazon Shipping currently has some limitations: it is exclusive to Amazon.com sellers, only serves shipments within the contiguous U.S., and has not expanded its pickup coverage since last year. Michael Cox, GM of Amazon Shipping Worldwide, indicated that the company plans to enhance pickup locations, stating, "Anywhere Amazon has a facility, we want to be there."
As the 2024 peak season approaches, Amazon Shipping may have a chance to capture more shipping volume from competitors, especially during the holiday rush. EasyPost highlighted that the service could help shippers manage additional capacity and avoid surcharges from other carriers, as it does not impose residential delivery fees or weekend delivery charges.
