As Indian exports hit record highs in 2024 especially to the United States, UPS has nearly doubled its air freight capacity between Delhi and its European Air Hub in Cologne, Germany, responding to the growing demand across key export sectors like automotive, industrial manufacturing, retail, and healthcare.
This strategic upgrade is supported by the deployment of a Boeing 747-8 freighter, which significantly boosts capacity and strengthens India’s role in the global supply chain and freight forwarding ecosystem. The route also acts as a critical bridge for cargo between Europe and the U.S., leveraging UPS’s extensive freight systems and supply chain solutions in both regions.
The latest development positions UPS as a key player in the expanding freight forwarding sector, particularly for Indian exporters seeking reliable and fast delivery across continents. Besides Delhi, UPS also operates flights from Bengaluru to Cologne, using a Boeing 747-400, further bolstering connections from India to Europe and beyond.
“Across Europe and worldwide, there is growing demand for high-quality goods from India,” said Daniel Carrera, President, UPS Europe, Middle East, Africa & India. “This expansion of our global air network will create new opportunities for European consumers, as well as for Indian businesses looking to export.”
India’s export growth has been bolstered by supportive policies, increased global competitiveness, and expanded market access.
