NEW DELHI: Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has entered into an agency agreement with Samudera Shipping Line (India) Pvt. Ltd. to expand international shipping services and strengthen end-to-end logistics support for export-import (EXIM) customers.
The agreement brings together CONCOR's extensive multimodal logistics network and Samudera Shipping Line's international shipping capabilities. The partnership aims to grow containerised cargo business, improve access to global shipping networks and create additional opportunities for exporters, importers and other stakeholders across the logistics industry.
Under the arrangement, the companies will work together on sales and marketing, cargo bookings, shipping documentation and container management. These activities are expected to improve coordination between inland logistics operations and international maritime transport, helping customers manage cargo movements more efficiently.
Strengthening International Shipping and EXIM Operations
CONCOR has built a significant presence in India's containerised logistics sector through its network of terminals, rail-based freight services and multimodal logistics operations. By expanding cooperation with international shipping companies, it continues to explore ways to improve links between inland production and consumption centres and overseas markets.
The partnership with Samudera Shipping Line is expected to support CONCOR's plans to grow its international shipping business, create more cargo-handling opportunities and deliver better-coordinated logistics solutions for customers.
The agreement also offers scope to improve coordination around container availability, cargo bookings and shipping documentation, helping simplify processes across the logistics chain. Such integration is becoming increasingly important as exporters and importers look for reliable, efficient and cost-effective services to meet their international supply chain needs.
Advancing Integrated Multimodal Logistics
The collaboration supports CONCOR's wider objective of strengthening India's logistics ecosystem by linking rail transportation, container terminals and shipping services. A more integrated operating model can improve coordination, broaden service options and facilitate the smooth movement of EXIM cargo.
For exporters, importers and the wider shipping community, the partnership could provide more coordinated logistics support across domestic and international transport networks. It also highlights the role of cooperation between logistics providers and shipping lines in supporting India's expanding participation in global trade.
Through the agency agreement, CONCOR and Samudera Shipping Line aim to strengthen international shipping cooperation, expand containerised cargo business and contribute to a more connected and efficient supply chain ecosystem.
The initiative reflects CONCOR's guiding philosophy, "Think Logistics, Think CONCOR," while supporting the broader goal of improving India's global trade connectivity through integrated, customer-focused logistics solutions.
