Yum China has officially opened its largest self-built supply chain management center in Jiading, which began operations on September 24. The facility spans 61,000 square meters and was completed in just over two years.

This state-of-the-art center features advanced technologies, including automated logistics, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), and rooftop photovoltaic panels, aiming to create an efficient, intelligent, and environmentally friendly hub for supply chain operations.

Joey Wat, CEO of Yum China, stated, “This center not only addresses our supply chain needs in East China but also supports nationwide cold chain integration, marking our advancement in world-class supply chain management.”

The center includes ambient temperature and cold chain storage, office space, and support facilities. Its cold storage warehouse features a 12-layer ASRS zone, offering over 9,000 pallet slots within a 2,500-square-meter area. This design enhances space utilization by more than 20% and boosts operational efficiency through automated identification, storage, and retrieval.

By the end of the year, the center will implement a high-density four-way shuttle storage system, allowing staff to focus on higher-value tasks.

The facility is equipped with rooftop photovoltaic panels capable of generating 1.5 megawatts, expected to produce over 1.5 million kilowatt-hours annually, significantly supporting the energy needs of cold storage operations.

Since entering China 37 years ago, Yum China has established a robust supply chain management system and currently operates 33 logistics hubs nationwide, serving over 1,700 cities and towns.
