On Tuesday, 13 May, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a major plan to boost the state's economy by using its 1,000-kilometre-long coastline.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Waltair Division, Lalit Bohra, visited the Mulapeta Port project to review its progress and discuss future collaboration.
He was joined by senior railway officials during the visit and also checked the ongoing safety works along the Naupada–Visakhapatnam rail section.
During the meeting with port authorities, Mr. Bohra looked into ways to boost freight loading through the port. The port officials shared updates on current operations, ongoing development, and future infrastructure plans, stressing the importance of better rail connectivity and logistics support for smoother operations.
The visit highlighted the potential for stronger rail-port coordination to support trade and cargo movement.
