The VO. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, has successfully handled windmill blades measuring an impressive 90.2 metres—the longest ever handled in India at the port—surpassing the previous record of 89.8 metres. Alongside this, VOC Port also managed the handling of one of India’s largest Wind Turbine Generators with a capacity of 5.3 MW, marking a significant milestone in project cargo operations.

This landmark movement of blades and turbine equipment was carried out from the vessel MV Da Gui for Venwind Refex Power Ltd. The vessel agency services were handled by M/s Aacen Shipping Agencies Pvt. Ltd., stevedoring operations were managed by M/s Aasian Shipping Agencies, while sea transportation was undertaken by M/s COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co. Ltd. Customs clearance, shore handling, and inland transportation are being executed by M/s NTC Logistics India Pvt. Ltd.

In addition to achieving this record, the port further reinforced its capabilities by efficiently handling heavy and over-dimensional cargo with high precision. The successful execution of this complex operation reflects meticulous planning, seamless coordination among stakeholders, and a strong focus on safety and efficiency during discharge.

This achievement highlights VOC Port’s robust infrastructure, experienced workforce, and operational excellence in managing specialized cargo. It also underlines the port’s growing role as a preferred gateway for renewable energy logistics in India, supporting the movement of critical wind energy equipment.

With this milestone, VOC Port continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for project cargo on the eastern coast, contributing to India’s infrastructure growth and long-term sustainability goals while reinforcing its expertise in handling large-scale renewable energy components.
