Adani Ports has announced plans to install a dynamic mooring system at Vizhinjam Port to address ship surge and sway issues, following requests from shipping companies. The system will enhance vessel stability, improving container loading and unloading efficiency.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a key operator at the port, recommended a shore tension system to maintain continuous cable tension, preventing mooring line breaks and ensuring safer operations. The system will be digitally monitored, with warnings for dangerous surge levels.

Since July 2024, Vizhinjam Port has handled 150 ships and 3 lakh containers, including 45 ships and 85,000 containers in January 2025.
