Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has launched the ‘One Nation, One Port’ initiative to streamline port operations across India. The initiative aims to integrate all major and minor ports under a unified framework to enhance efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and improve cargo handling speed.

The plan includes digitalization of port processes, standardization of operational procedures, and seamless interconnectivity between ports to optimize trade flow. By implementing uniform policies, the government seeks to eliminate inefficiencies caused by fragmented port management.

Industry experts believe this initiative will boost India’s global competitiveness by making port logistics smoother and more cost-effective. The ‘One Nation, One Port’ strategy will also facilitate greater collaboration between ports, improving coordination in handling cargo and vessel movements.
