Ola Electric, led by founder and CMD Bhavish Aggarwal, is making waves in the electric vehicle industry with the launch of its new 'Roadster' series motorcycles. This new range, which includes three models—Roadster Pro, Roadster, and Roadster X—covers a price spectrum from βΉ75,000 to βΉ2,50,000, positioning Ola Electric to redefine the electric two-wheeler market.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Aggarwal revealed that the new motorcycles will benefit significantly from the existing scooter supply chain and cost structures. By leveraging a common platform and suppliers, Ola Electric ensures strong gross margins from the outset. The company's production strategy utilizes its extensive factory capacity, which can produce one million units annually. With current scooter production at 5,00,000 units per year, Ola’s flexible system is well-prepared to accommodate both scooters and motorcycles, setting the stage for substantial growth.
Aggarwal expressed confidence in the burgeoning electric motorcycle market, noting the significant maturation of the electric vehicle (EV) sector over the past few years. He reflected on the early challenges of educating customers about EVs and building the necessary infrastructure, such as charging networks and service centers. Today, with a better-informed market, Ola Electric is well-positioned to capitalize on this momentum with its new motorcycle lineup.
