A Member of Parliament (MP) from Odisha has urged the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways to prioritize the development of three strategic ports in the state. These ports, which are considered vital for enhancing Odisha’s maritime connectivity, are expected to drive significant economic growth and foster greater industrial development in the region.

The MP highlighted the importance of these ports in improving trade routes, particularly for the mineral-rich region of Odisha, which is home to key industries like steel, mining, and textiles. The development of these ports is expected to facilitate easier export and import of goods, especially bulk commodities, which are crucial for the region's economic growth.

With an emphasis on improving port infrastructure, the MP stressed that Odisha could become a central hub for maritime trade, contributing significantly to India's overall supply chain capabilities. The government’s focus on port development is aligned with its broader efforts to boost maritime trade and make India a leading player in the global shipping industry.
