Maruti Suzuki India has reached a remarkable milestone by exporting over 1,600 units of its newly launched sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Fronx, to Japan. This significant event marks the first time an Indian-made SUV has been shipped to the Japanese market, underscoring the expanding global influence of 'Brand India.'
The initial shipment of more than 1,600 Fronx SUVs departed from Pipavav Port in Gujarat on August 13. This export represents Maruti Suzuki's second major venture into the Japanese market, following the successful export of the Baleno hatchback in 2016.
The Fronx, exclusively produced at Maruti's Gujarat facility, is set to debut on Japanese roads later this year under the Suzuki Motor Corporation’s brand.
India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, expressed his pride in this achievement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "समय बदल रहा है! A truly proud moment as a consignment of over 1600 'Made In India' SUVs from Maruti Suzuki is exported for the first time to Japan."
