The agreement is grounded in the principles of mutual benefits, openness and shared development goals.
According to recent trade data, total bilateral trade between China and Turkmenistan reached $12.2 billion in 2024, an 8.4% year on year increase. China’s imports from Turkmenistan include natural gas, chemicals and cotton, while China exports machinery, electronic, building materials and consumer goods, highlighting the diverse and growing nature of trade ties.
Logistics plays a crucial role in stabilizing supply chains and enhancing trade facilitation. CIFA emphasized that logistics and supply chain trends are becoming more sophisticated, especially through the development of the China-Europe Railway Express, cross-border road transport and multimodal transport networks across Central Asia.
The ongoing logistics collaboration between China’s Horgos and Alashankou ports and key Turkmenistan hubs continues to strengthen. These strategic partnerships are laying the groundwork for increased connectivity and more efficient supply chain integration throughout the region.
The MoU is expected to further align logistics strategies and promote regional infrastructure development, reinforcing China and Turkmenistan's shared commitment to advancing modern, sustainable, and resilient supply chain systems.
