A bulk carrier has been escorted into port after catching fire off Western Australia's south-east coast. Smoke was seen billowing from the Mayuree Naree for several hours on Monday. When the fire broke out, the Thai ship had been anchored about 7 kilometres offshore waiting to come into Esperance Port, 700 kilometres south-east of Perth. There are no reports of injuries, and the extent of the damage is unclear at this stage.Esperance Port is the deepest port in southern Australia and operated by the state government authority, Southern Ports.Southern Ports, which also manages regional ports at Albany and Bunbury, has been contacted for comment.Port jobs
