E-mobility platform BLive has formed a strategic partnership with Awign, a work-as-a-service platform, with the goal of onboarding 10,000 riders for BLive’s electric vehicle (EV) rental program within the next 12 months. This collaboration is designed to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility among gig workers, improving operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
According to a statement from BLive, the deployment of 10,000 electric bikes over the next year will set a new benchmark for sustainability and economic empowerment in the gig economy.
Awign, recognized for its innovative work fulfillment solutions, specializes in streamlining work processes, ensuring high-quality outputs, and managing costs effectively for large organizations. The platform boasts a community of over 1.5 million gig workers and collaborates with leading enterprises across various sectors, including automotive, retail, FMCG, education, manufacturing, and more.
This partnership offers gig workers access to affordable and sustainable electric vehicles through BLive’s EZY EV Rental Program. The program eliminates financial hurdles by offering flexible rental terms and low weekly rates starting at just Rs 1,500. The “rent-to-own” model allows riders to own their EVs after 36 months, promoting both sustainability and economic independence.
Industry surveys indicate that 77% of last-mile delivery riders prefer EVs due to their environmental benefits, but financial barriers often stand in the way. BLive’s initiative addresses these challenges by providing competitive rates that encourage wider EV adoption. By partnering with prominent brands like TVS, Ather, Bounce, and Revolt, BLive ensures that its riders have access to top-tier electric vehicles, which offer significant savings on fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs.
Riders on the BLive EZY platform can acquire EVs with minimal deposits, without the need for a CIBIL check. The program also includes comprehensive insurance, roadside assistance, and extended warranties, ensuring reliable service. Additionally, gig workers can benefit from substantial fuel cost savings and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Samarth Kholkar, CEO and Co-Founder of BLive, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, "This collaboration with Awign marks a significant milestone for BLive. Our EZY EV Rental Program has been instrumental in reducing the financial barriers for delivery workers, and this partnership will further accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in India. Together with Awign, we are committed to transforming last-mile delivery and promoting sustainable practices."
Gurpreet Singh, Co-founder and CBO of Awign, added, "At Awign, we have been actively working in the space of sustainable mobility and related technologies for some time now. From deploying charger installation infrastructure across India to now onboarding 10,000 riders for BLive’s EZY EV Rental Program, we continue to strive for operational excellence and sustainability."
As the Indian electric vehicle industry continues to grow rapidly, with the market for electric two-wheelers expected to reach 1.6 million units by 2025, the gig economy—particularly last-mile delivery services—plays a significant role in this growth. This partnership between BLive and Awign capitalizes on this trend, making the shift to electric vehicles more accessible and beneficial for gig workers across India.
