Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams sent Diwali greetings from the International Space Station (ISS) during a White House celebration hosted by President Joe Biden. Her video message, delivered from 260 miles above Earth, highlighted the importance of cultural roots and community contributions.

The event drew over 600 prominent Indian Americans, including members of Congress, government officials, and business leaders. In her one-minute video, Williams reflected on her father's immigration from India and the lessons he imparted about Diwali and other Indian festivals. "Diwali is a time of joy as goodness in the world prevails," she said, expressing gratitude for her multicultural upbringing.

Biden, addressing attendees in a packed East Room, noted the significance of the celebration and mentioned that his administration has hosted the largest Diwali receptions in White House history.
