Amazon has launched a new same-day delivery facility in the Oklahoma City metro area, promising fast and efficient service that brings packages to customers' doorsteps within hours—just in time for the holiday shopping season.

The 180,000-square-foot warehouse is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including conveyor belts, machine-operated pods, and a team of over 200 employees working together to fulfill orders quickly. “When you place an order on our website, it’s available in our building and we have it to you within hours,” said Blaine Cooper, site leader.

This new facility is part of Amazon’s broader investment in Oklahoma, where the company has created over 8,000 jobs across 10 facilities and partnered with more than 2,500 local small and medium-sized businesses that sell through its platform.

The same-day delivery center is stocked with more than 70,000 items. When new products arrive, they are placed in machine-operated pods, making them available for sale on Amazon’s website within minutes. “Once an item is stowed in the pod, it’s ready to be sold online almost immediately,” Cooper explained.

Items are tracked using QR codes as they move around the warehouse, with employees pulling and packing products for delivery as soon as an order is placed. The average time from an order being placed to the item being ready for delivery is just 11 minutes, Cooper noted.

Instead of using Amazon’s traditional blue vans, deliveries are handled by drivers who use their vehicles to pick up packages and complete 4-8-hour delivery routes based on their availability. “Because we have individual drivers picking up packages throughout the day, we’re able to deliver very quickly,” Cooper said.

The facility also uses data analytics to monitor which items are in high demand in the Oklahoma City area, helping ensure that popular products are always in stock and ready for rapid delivery.
