Amazon Transportation Services Private Limited (Amazon India) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Indian Railways to further enhance their existing collaboration for the faster and more reliable transportation of Amazon India packages using the extensive network of Indian Railways. This partnership aims to establish a hub-and-spoke model for one origin-destination pair, which will serve as a prototype for expanding similar operations across the railway network. The MoU outlines a strategic plan covering first and last-mile logistics, transit times, cost analysis, and policy frameworks to increase parcel volumes transported via railways. Amazon India will also provide insights and recommendations to streamline the distribution network for parcel logistics through railways, ensuring faster and more consistent delivery timelines to meet the growing demands of the e-commerce sector. Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations at Amazon India, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the government's vision to harness the potential of Indian Railways for economic growth. He highlighted that since 2019, Amazon has successfully merged its e-commerce logistics expertise with the reliability of Indian Railways, enabling faster delivery of millions of products across the country. Singh reiterated Amazon's commitment to further innovation alongside Indian Railways to better serve customers across India. Ravinder Goyal, Member (Operations and Business Development)
