The Adani Group is set to invest βΉ500 crore to develop a state-of-the-art logistics park on a 70-acre site in Ernakulam, Kerala, as announced by the state’s Industries and Law Minister, P. Rajeeve.
The group has already acquired the industrial plot, and the project is expected to create hundreds of jobs for local residents, according to Rajeeve.
The logistics park will feature multiple warehouses operated by private companies, with Flipkart among the first to establish a facility there. Sources familiar with the plans revealed that the
Walmart-owned e-commerce giant aims to have its facility operational by December this year. However, Flipkart did not respond to requests for comment.
The logistics park is being developed in Kalamassery, a locality that falls within Rajeeve’s constituency in the Kerala Assembly.
Additionally, the Adani Group plans to invest βΉ10,000 crore in the second phase of the Vizhinjam deepwater multipurpose port project in Kerala over the next three years. Phase I of this project, developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model since 2015, saw a combined investment of βΉ7,900 crore from both the government and the Adani Group. For Phase II, the entire investment will be funded by the Adani Group, according to officials.
Furthermore, the group is committing βΉ2,000 crore to redevelop Thiruvananthapuram airport over the next five years. P. Rajeeve stated that the Adani Group is significantly ramping up its investments across various sectors in the state. Industry experts noted that these investments represent the highest-ever private sector contribution in Kerala's history, with the potential to create thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities in the coming years.
