In a major move to enhance railway logistics and streamline travel-related services, the Ministry of Railways has launched a new mobile application SwaRail. Developed by the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the SwaRail app is designed to be an all-in-one digital solution for passenger transport, freight forwarding services, and end-to-end railway management.

The app integrates essential rail-related logistics services, including online train ticket booking (reserved and unreserved), PNR status check, live train tracking, rail freight management, and in-transit food delivery, all through a single, easy-to-use platform. By combining features previously spread across multiple apps such as IRCTC Rail Connect, UTS, and third-party apps for freight tracking and logistics support, SwaRail offers a seamless experience for both passengers and freight forwarding companies.

SwaRail is being positioned as a “Super App” for Indian Railways, simplifying both passenger travel and freight handling operations. It also supports digital supply chain solutions by offering better visibility and control over rail-based logistics. This initiative aligns with the government's focus on digitizing and modernizing India's transportation and freight systems, making rail logistics more efficient and accessible for all users.
