The Vizhinjam Conclave 2025 is scheduled to take place on January 28 and 29, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This two-day event is jointly organized by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL). The conclave aims to explore the significant investment potential of the Vizhinjam International Seaport. It will bring together government officials, business leaders, global investors, and key stakeholders to enhance Kerala's industrial ecosystem.

Key Objectives of Vizhinjam Conclave 2025

Positioning Vizhinjam as a Strategic Investment Hub

The conclave's primary goal is to highlight Vizhinjam Port as a key player in global trade and logistics. Once operational, the Vizhinjam International Seaport is expected to serve as a transhipment hub for international cargo due to its strategic location along major shipping routes.

Fostering Investment Opportunities

More than 300 delegates, including 50+ investors from India and abroad, are expected to attend. The event is likely to witness the signing of 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), ensuring substantial investments in logistics, port-related industries, and allied sectors.

Promoting Local Industries and Employment

The development of the port and ancillary industries is forecasted to create thousands of jobs in Kerala. The government envisions a 10fold employment growth through industrial parks, warehouses, cold storage units, and manufacturing hubs.

Sessions and Highlights

The conclave will feature:

Panel Discussions with experts on global shipping, logistics, and investment.

Fireside Chats with prominent industry leaders.

Presentations on Kerala’s investment landscape, focusing on the Vizhinjam Seaport’s infrastructure and business potential.

Additionally, two precursor events will be held under the banner “Trivandrum Speaks” to engage local business communities. These events are organized in collaboration with Adani Vizhinjam Ports and the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI).

Why Vizhinjam International Seaport is a Gamechanger

Strategic Location

Vizhinjam Port is situated just 10 nautical miles from the international shipping route, making it one of the most strategically located ports in South Asia. Its natural depth of 1820 meters allows the berthing of large container ships, reducing transhipment costs significantly.

Boost to Maritime Economy

The port is expected to attract investment in sectors such as:

Logistics and Warehousing

Cold Chain Solutions

Export Oriented Manufacturing Units

Marine Services

Gateway to Global Trade

Once operational, Vizhinjam will reduce India’s dependence on foreign transhipment hubs such as Colombo and Singapore, making it a critical asset in India’s bid to become a global supply chain leader.

Support from the Government

Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event. In his address, he is expected to outline the government’s support through policy reforms, infrastructure development, and investor-friendly initiatives. The Vizhinjam Conclave is also a curtain-raiser for the Invest Kerala Global Summit, scheduled for February 2025, further underscoring Kerala's commitment to becoming an investor-friendly destination.

Impact on Kerala’s Economy

The Vizhinjam Conclave 2025 marks a crucial turning point in Kerala’s economic development strategy. With the port nearing completion, the state anticipates:

A 30% increase in exports by 2030.

Creation of 10,000 direct and indirect jobs in the next five years.

Doubling of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow into the state.

Establishment of a robust industrial corridor along the southern coast of Kerala.

Lastly, the Vizhinjam Conclave 2025 is not just an event but a stepping stone toward establishing Kerala as a prominent industrial hub in India. By leveraging the opportunities offered by the Vizhinjam International Seaport, the state aims to attract global investments, create employment, and position itself as a key player in the maritime economy. As the world watches, this conclave promises to be a landmark event in Kerala’s journey toward economic prosperity.
