A senior leadership team from the Tata Group visited Dhamra Port to mark the berthing of its first-ever cape-size import iron ore vessel, MV ENNA. The vessel is carrying 1,51,773 metric tonnes of iron ore for Tata Steel.
The visit also included a comprehensive review of ongoing and upcoming port development projects, along with discussions focused on strengthening strategic logistics collaboration between the two organisations.
During the engagement, both sides explored plans around capacity expansion, infrastructure modernisation, and long-term growth strategy. The discussions reflected a shared vision to build a more resilient, efficient, and future-ready maritime logistics ecosystem.
Tata officials stated that the commencement of imported iron ore cargo operations not only strengthens the existing partnership with Dhamra Port but also lays the foundation for a long-term strategic association.
They highlighted that the berthing of MV ENNA represents a significant milestone in the port’s operational journey, demonstrating its enhanced cargo handling capabilities and ability to accommodate large cape-size vessels. Such vessels typically require deep draft infrastructure, which positions Dhamra Port as a critical logistics gateway on India’s east coast.
The port’s ongoing expansion is aligned with supporting Tata Steel’s future growth plans by ensuring seamless, efficient, and scalable logistics solutions for bulk cargo movement.
