Tata Electronics has renamed Pegatron Technology India to Tata Electronics Products and Solutions Pvt Ltd, marking a major step in its journey to become a leading supplier in Apple’s iPhone supply chain. This move also positions Tata as a stronger competitor to Taiwan-based Foxconn.
Along with the rebranding, Tata has reshuffled key leadership roles. Senior executives like MD & CEO Randhir Thakur, Supply Chain Head Srinivas Satya, and CFO Sriram Kadiyala have joined the new board. Former MD of Pegatron India, Chiu Tan Lin, has stepped down but will continue as a director.
Tata Electronics began iPhone assembly in October 2023 after buying Wistron’s Karnataka factory for over βΉ1,000 crore. In January 2025, Tata took a 60% stake in Pegatron India, which led to this rebranding.
The company is expanding fast assembling older iPhone models in Hosur and building a βΉ6,750-crore facility to make PCBs, chargers, and display screens. All mobile manufacturing activities are being shifted under the new entity.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently said most iPhones sold in the US this quarter will be made in India, showing how important India is becoming in Apple’s global supply chain.
