South Korea is dedicated to enhancing its supply chain cooperation with the United States, regardless of the results of the upcoming U.S. presidential election, according to Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo. Speaking during a meeting with experts, Cheong emphasized that South Korea will focus on cooperation in cutting-edge industries and supply chains, leveraging existing partnerships.

He highlighted the significance of the U.S. as a key ally for South Korea in terms of exports and investment, noting that the trade ministry plans to assist South Korean companies in navigating uncertainties and challenges in their operations.

During the meeting, Professor Heo Yoon from Sogang University pointed out that the U.S. is likely to continue prioritizing its national interests, making it essential for the South Korean government to coordinate closely with the private sector.

Additionally, the finance ministry stated that the anticipated U.S. restrictions on investments in key technology sectors in China should have a limited direct impact on the South Korean economy. However, they will continue to monitor the situation and develop appropriate responses if necessary. The U.S. has identified China, along with Hong Kong and Macao, as "countries of concern" under these new investment rules.
