During a recent visit to the United States, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in discussions with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to enhance bilateral cooperation in critical minerals supply chains. The meeting, part of Goyal's trip from September 30 to October 4, focused on exploring investment opportunities in India.

According to a statement from the Department of Commerce, Goyal and Raimondo met over lunch, where they addressed mutual interests and outlined strategies for bolstering collaboration in the critical minerals sector, a key recommendation from the US-India CEO Forum.

The India-US CEO Forum serves as a platform for private sector leaders to offer insights and recommendations to both governments, aiming to strengthen economic ties. It operates alongside the US-India Commercial Dialogue, providing essential input for government discussions.

Goyal’s visit also included meetings with leading American and Indian CEOs, as well as co-chairing the sixth India-US Commercial Dialogue meeting with Raimondo. The forum is co-chaired by N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, and James Taiclet, president and CEO of Lockheed Martin, and this marks the third convening since its reconstitution in November 2022.

The discussions encompassed various priority areas across seven working groups, focusing on fostering partnerships and driving growth in sectors such as entrepreneurship, healthcare, aerospace, digital infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing.
