MUMBAI : DP World, a major player in global supply chain solutions and the official Global Logistics Partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has pulled off an impressive feat of international coordination to support the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 taking place across India and Sri Lanka.
Over a two-month period spanning December 2025 through January 2026, the logistics giant orchestrated a massive cross-border operation that brought together air and sea freight services from five different regions—Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the UAE. The undertaking involved moving more than 55,000 kilograms of vital broadcast equipment and match infrastructure, ensuring every venue and production crew had what they needed right on time.
The India operation alone saw nine international shipments touch down in Delhi, containing over 620 individual packages with a combined weight exceeding 25,000 kg. These shipments carried everything from sophisticated broadcast systems to essential match operations gear.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's portion of the logistics puzzle proved equally challenging. DP World managed 10 separate air shipments—a mix of chartered and commercial flights—along with six shipping containers arriving by sea from Singapore. All told, this accounted for more than 465 packages weighing in at over 30,000 kg.
Rizwan Soomar, who serves as CEO and Managing Director for the Subcontinent, Central Asia, and Levant regions at DP World, didn't mince words about the complexity involved. "Delivering logistics for a global tournament of this scale demands seamless coordination, precision planning and speed," he explained. "Managing multi-origin shipments within compressed timelines demonstrates the strength of DP World's integrated global network and our ability to perform under pressure. We are proud to support the ICC in delivering operational excellence across host nations."
The success of this operation came down to tight collaboration with customs officials and ICC operations teams, combined with DP World's ability to leverage both air and sea freight capabilities under one roof. This integration proved crucial in getting all mission-critical equipment to its destination safely and on schedule.
This wasn't DP World's first rodeo with ICC events, either. The company recently handled comprehensive air and sea freight logistics for the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup held in Namibia, showing once again that its global network has the flexibility and responsiveness needed to handle complex, deadline-driven sporting events.
