Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, held a comprehensive review meeting today to assess and enhance the operations of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department, with a strong focus on modernizing supply chain management. The meeting was attended by Sub Divisional Magistrates, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, and Assistant Directors Santosh Kumar and Haroon Rashid Naik.

The discussion centered on increasing the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of the supply and chain management system, aligning it with the future of supply chain management and current SCM innovations in India. Emphasizing digital transformation, the Deputy Commissioner urged officials to adopt electronic supply chain management tools and supply chain management software to streamline food distribution from warehouses to end beneficiaries.

He stressed the importance of adhering to standard operating procedures and ordered inspections of annual records to ensure compliance. Surprise inspections of ration dealerships were mandated for SDMs and FCS&CA teams to verify the display of approved rate lists and to prevent the commercial misuse of domestic LPG cylinders, an essential component of responsible supply chain demand planning.

Directives were issued to closely monitor the quality and timely delivery of Mid-Day Meals and food supplies to Anganwadi centres. The Deputy Commissioner assigned SDMs specific targets to conduct on-the-spot inspections and take immediate action against irregularities, reinforcing best practices in digital supply chain tracking and governance.

Further attention was given to enforcement actions concerning weights and measurements, with a directive to prosecute any violations. Officials were instructed to conduct thorough cross-checks at the mill level to ensure accuracy in ration pickup and delivery records, integrating advanced future supply chain tracking systems.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that all food and ration distribution must be handled exclusively by licensed personnel, a standard practice in efficient chain supply management. These efforts reflect Jammu's commitment to advancing the region’s participation in the broader national goals of supply chain management development programs and preparing for platforms like the Supply Chain Leadership Summit. By reinforcing these measures, Jammu is aligning itself with best supply chain practices in India and driving a more transparent and accountable SCM framework.
