Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), a key Apple supplier, is investing $1.5 billion in its Indian operations to strengthen electronic supply chain management and diversify iPhone manufacturing beyond China. As per a London Stock Exchange filing, Foxconn’s Singapore-based unit will acquire 12.77 billion shares in Tamil Nadu-based Yuzhan Technology India at ₹10 per share, totaling ₹127.74 billion. Yuzhan manufactures electronic components and assembles iPhones, aligning with Apple’s broader SCM supply chain management strategy to reduce reliance on China.

India’s SCM innovations, bolstered by the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, have made it a hub for future supply chain tracking. In March alone, India exported 600 tons of iPhones worth $2 billion to the U.S., highlighting its growing role in the global supply and chain. Foxconn’s further collaboration with HCL Group to build a semiconductor plant in Uttar Pradesh by 2027 reinforces India’s rising position in digital supply chain ecosystems.

Amid escalating US-China trade tensions, Apple plans to relocate all iPhone assembly for the U.S. market to India by 2026. This move positions India as a vital player in the future of supply chain management, supported by partnerships with Tata Electronics and ongoing SCM development programs.
