Under the joint brand name of Medha Servo Drives and GRSE, these systems and equipment will be produced for use on both commercial and naval platforms.

Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives and the state-run Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the production of cutting-edge electrical and electronic systems and equipment.

According to a BSE filing by the company, these systems and equipment would be produced under the joint brand names of Medha Servo Drives and GRSE for use on both commercial and naval platforms.

"GRSE's extensive experience and expertise in shipbuilding and the integration of sophisticated systems on board vessels, along with Medha Servo Drives' extensive technological know-how in the field of electrical and electronic equipment, are intended to be combined through the MoU," the statement reads.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covers PGD components, electrical propulsion systems for maritime applications, and control and monitoring systems.

In the presence of Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE, RK Dash, Director (Finance), GRSE, Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd), Director (Shipbuilding), GRSE, DIG Subrato Ghosh, ICG (Retd), Director (Personnel), GRSE, and senior officials of GRSE & Medha Servo Drives, the Memorandum was signed by Cmde Rajiv Sreedharan, IN (Retd), CGM (Innovation & New Technology), GRSE, and Vishwas Rajendra Moktali, GM (Marketing), Medha Servo Drives.

The government of India's "Make in India" and Atmanirbharta programs will benefit greatly from this partnership, the company claimed.

GRSE has already delivered 109 warships to India's naval defense forces. While warship building is GRSE's specialty, the company has pioneered the field of portable steel bridges.

GRSE has also expanded into ship repair and refit, as well as the production of 30 mm Naval Surface Guns. The shipyard also designs and constructs specialty vessels for both domestic and international markets.

GRSE recently signed a deal with the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) to deliver an ocean research vessel. In addition, the shipyard is building a tug and dredger for Bangladesh, as well as at least four multipurpose vessels for a German company.
