Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has signed an agreement with Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to develop a multimodal logistics park within the MIHAN Special Economic Zone in Nagpur.
Under the agreement, 19.92 acres of land have been allocated to CWC within the MIHAN-SEZ area to build modern warehousing and logistics infrastructure. The project will incorporate advanced technology-driven storage systems along with dedicated cold chain facilities to handle diverse cargo, including perishable goods and pharmaceuticals.
The proposed logistics park will offer integrated connectivity across road, rail, and air networks, enabling faster movement of goods and reducing overall transit time across supply chains. Its location within a special economic zone will also allow for single-window customs clearance, simplifying import-export procedures and minimising delays.
Officials noted that these features are expected to significantly lower logistics costs while enhancing operational efficiency for businesses operating in central India.
Nagpur’s strategic position at the geographical centre of the country has long established it as a key logistics hub. The new development is expected to further strengthen this advantage and support India’s broader push to improve manufacturing competitiveness and integrate supply chains with global trade networks.
The project is also likely to generate employment across logistics, supply chain, and allied sectors, benefiting local communities and service providers. Additionally, expanded cold chain capacity will provide a boost to the pharmaceutical and food processing industries in the region.
Authorities believe the logistics park will act as a catalyst for economic growth in Maharashtra, driving investment and supporting industrial development in the coming years.
