TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited, recognized as a leading global supply chain solutions provider and among India's largest and most rapidly expanding integrated supply chain companies, has revealed plans to enhance Caterpillar's worldwide supply chain network through the establishment of a new 40,000 square foot warehousing facility. The state-of-the-art center is being developed at the Free Trade and Warehousing Zone in Mannur Village, situated roughly 30 kilometers from Chennai in India. This strategic facility will facilitate the procurement of parts from various countries while providing critical support to Caterpillar's manufacturing operations across the globe.
The newly established TVS SCS Chennai FTWZ facility benefits from its prime location along the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, providing excellent connectivity to three major ports: Chennai, Ennore, and Kamarajar. These ports collectively manage close to 20 percent of India's total container traffic, making the location ideal for international logistics operations. The facility is designed to strengthen the 'Make in India for the World' initiative and establishes Caterpillar's Indian operations as a dependable and expandable hub within their international supply chain infrastructure.
Equipped with roughly 4,000 pallet positions, this cutting-edge facility will provide Caterpillar with the capability to streamline lead times, minimize landed costs, and adapt quickly to fluctuating global demand and supply requirements. The modern warehousing infrastructure represents a significant investment in operational efficiency and supply chain optimization.
Ravi Viswanathan, who serves as Managing Director at TVS Supply Chain Solutions, shared his perspective on the development: "Our customized solution for Caterpillar reinforces supply chain resilience during times of global trade volatility. Through the integration of the FTWZ model with our comprehensive end-to-end warehousing capabilities, we facilitate faster and more streamlined global supply chain operations, empowering Caterpillar to weather trade disruptions effectively. Our enduring partnership demonstrates the confidence Caterpillar has in TVS SCS to provide innovative, scalable, and future-ready solutions."
Ramesh Muthuraman, serving as Director of Operations at Caterpillar India Private Limited, provided additional insight: "As we work to fortify our global supply chain network, the FTWZ facility created by TVS Supply Chain Solutions improves our sourcing flexibility significantly. TVS SCS possesses extensive expertise in overseeing complex, multi-country supply chains, which allows us to more effectively manage global trade conditions and maintain operational continuity."
Beyond the new FTWZ facility, TVS SCS currently operates Caterpillar's external warehouse operations located in Hosur, India, in addition to managing their In-Plant Warehousing operations. The company deploys specially trained and dedicated personnel to provide ongoing support for Caterpillar's manufacturing operations throughout the region. Throughout the last five years, TVS SCS and Caterpillar have cultivated a strong collaborative relationship founded on operational excellence, mutual trust, and a unified commitment to developing resilient, future-ready global supply chains that can adapt to evolving market demands.
