Telangana has laid out an ambitious roadmap to position itself among India's leading logistics destinations, with plans to achieve global prominence by 2047, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said on Thursday.
Speaking at the Transport Logistic India 2026 conference at Mumbai's Jio World Convention Centre—an event organized by Messe Munchen India—the Minister detailed the state government's vision for building a next-generation logistics infrastructure. The strategy centers on expanding physical infrastructure, integrating digital technologies, rolling out supportive policies, advancing sustainability goals, and培养 developing skilled talent.
Sridhar Babu stressed that logistics will play a pivotal role in Telangana's development agenda under the Telangana Rising 2047 framework. The state aims to double its share of India's GDP from the current 5 percent to 10 percent by 2047, supporting a broader target of building a $3-trillion economy.
Pointing to major shifts in the industry—including supply chain restructuring, AI-driven logistics operations, and environmental responsibility—the Minister said Telangana is leveraging its strategic location to sharpen its competitive edge in the logistics space.
Among the infrastructure initiatives driving this transformation are the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail Phase-II expansion, new airport proposals, a dry port facility, the rollout of Telangana Logistics Policy 2.0, and purpose-built logistics parks designed to strengthen the state's operational backbone.
The government is also working with Young India Skills University and industry players to train a workforce equipped for the evolving demands of modern logistics. Sridhar Babu called on businesses to invest in multi-modal logistics, rail-connected infrastructure, air cargo facilities, cold chain networks, premium-grade warehousing, automation technologies, digital logistics solutions, and green transportation.
The state has committed to supporting investors with faster approval processes, clear policy frameworks, and a business-friendly regulatory environment.
