Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday announced that paddy procurement has been successfully completed in 21 out of the state’s 33 districts. Addressing a conference with District Collectors and officials, he emphasized that the procurement and supply chain management processes were running effectively, despite some disruptions in a few areas.
The Chief Minister alleged that certain protests were politically motivated and intended to undermine the ongoing procurement supply chain operations. He noted that these isolated incidents were being amplified due to lack of awareness campaigns highlighting the government's efforts in smooth procurement and supply chain and logistics execution.
Revanth Reddy instructed authorities to conduct field visits, engage an adequate number of transport trucks, and hire local godowns to ensure seamless operations. He also stressed strict monitoring and warned rice millers and brokers against causing inconvenience to farmers. In cases of malicious propaganda, he ordered that legal action be taken.
The Chief Minister further highlighted the importance of understanding what is procurement in the agricultural context and urged officials to maintain efficiency and transparency. He also encouraged closer coordination between procurement supply chain analysts and local teams to avoid any disruption.
This directive reinforces the distinction between procurement and supply chain management, focusing on delivering timely results and supporting farmers through a reliable procurement and supply chain system.
