Amkor and Infineon have declared to work together to promote sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives across the supply chain.

The companies will work with shared suppliers to help them create and put into practice efficient decarbonisation plans. Workshops, gatherings, and the exchange of decarbonization-related best practices and lessons learned will all be part of this.

The objective is to identify areas in need of development and assist suppliers in establishing science-based emissions reduction goals by the Science Based Targets programme.

In order to promote continuous enhancement throughout the shared supply chain, both companies are dedicated to offering continuing direction, encouraging communication, and monitoring progress.

According to Infineon's Chief Procurement Officer, Angelique van der Burg (pictured), "Infineon has made excellent progress towards its aim to become CO2-neutral for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030." Scope-3 emissions related to the supply chain account for the largest portion of the company's overall emissions and are the most difficult to minimise.

Amkor CEO Giel Rutten (pictured) states, "This initiative is pivotal in achieving Amkor's goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 by strengthening supply chain engagement through joint efforts."

In 2023, Infineon launched a programme for engaging suppliers. Since then, the business has established and implemented science-based targets in collaboration with over a hundred suppliers.
